Put safety ahead of finding the break

If you can safely reach the main water shutoff, close it to limit an active supply leak. Don't wade into water near electrical equipment or stand beneath a sagging ceiling. If there's immediate danger, leave the affected area and contact emergency services. You don't need to locate the exact break before getting to safety.

Give the plumber a clear account

Say where water first appeared, whether the supply is now off, and which areas are affected. Mention any recent freezing conditions or previous repair without assuming that explains the failure. Ask the provider to confirm whether they can attend and what the assessment costs; a web request isn't a booked emergency visit.

Ask where the plumbing job ends

Replacing a broken pipe doesn't automatically include removing water, drying the building, or repairing finishes. Ask who handles each part and keep the work records. Before surfaces are closed, have the provider explain what was repaired and how it was checked.
